A woman was reportedly raped at a guest house in Jellicoe Street.
She was allegedly raped by a known suspect during October in 2018 after she was called by the suspect wanting to talk to her.
They sat in a room which was booked by the suspect. He allegedly started touching her and telling her how he physically abused his ex-girlfriends.
He allegedly started rubbing her thighs and undressed her and forced himself on her without using a condom.
He allegedly forced himself on her three times that night.
She cannot recall if the suspect ejaculated.
She did not report the matter soon after the incident because she did not want to deal with the matter.
“I finally told my friends and they encouraged me to go to the police and report it,” she said.
She urges women to report rape to the police or tell someone they can trust and that way they will be able to deal with the matter.
The rape case was open on March 2019.
Police spokesperson,, Constable David Ratau highlighted that it is important for anyone who was raped to report the matter as soon as possible.
“Evidence will be easily obtained from the clothes of the victim. It is possible to get evidence from the place where the crime took place too,” said Constable Ratau.
He further also encouraged people who suffered rape and did not report it soon after it had happened to still report it and that the police can help them.
