Mayor gives quality furniture to the unfortunate
As she was delivering furniture she urged the families to remain strong despite their dire situation
Households of the frail, elderly, deaf, child headed, and of people living with albinism, which live in pitiable homes were thrilled when executive mayor Linah Malatjie handed them furniture.
Before Malatjie’s noble gesture, the families were living in houses which almost had nothing, except for a few inconsequential items.
The furniture which was sourced from a construction company included fridges, beds, wardrobes, lounge suites, microwaves, televisions, kitchen tables and chairs.
As she was delivering furniture she urged the families to remain strong despite their dire situation.
“Your tough situation will not stay the same throughout your lives, as government we are working hard to change your lives for the better,” she encouraged them.
Seven families based in the new settlement, Siyanqoba, and in KwaGuqa, benefited.
Malatjie encouraged the private sector to join hands with the Municipality to assist poverty-stricken families.
“Every little donation can go a long way to assist destitute families. It is also very much important to emphasize job creation in our city. It makes a huge difference when at least one person in a family works, and government cannot on its own create the much needed jobs,” she said.
