With the election time on our resident’s doorstep, political parties are campaigning left, right and centre.
WITBANK NEWS did an article on March 22 about posters of political parties hanging and pasted everywhere.
After requesting the bylaws from the Emalahleni Local Municipality, the spokesperson Mr Kingdom Mabuza said,
“we as Emalahleni Local Municipality has warned political parties to desist from erecting election posters willy-nilly without first seeking permission from the municipality. Unless political parties adhere to by-laws which clearly state that permission must first be sought from the municipality, we will be left with no choice but to act against the transgressors. The by-laws further state that a poster may not be affixed to among others, a road sign, electricity box, tree or a bridge. The municipality will dispatch a team to remove posters which have been affixed without permission and those which have been attached in places they should not be.”
