On the trot for the Red Dot

Participants completed five laps through the mall – collecting a different coloured sticker after each round until, upon completion of the fifth; they were given the magical red dot

The average women spends 2 280 days of her life, or put differently – 6 years and four months of her life – menstruating.

That’s a lot of time, especially if you can’t afford sanitary products.

However, never fear – Highveld Mall, in partnership with the Red Dot Project, has stepped up to the plate in the fight to protect the dignity of under-age local girls during “that time of the month”, and what better way to have done this than by hosting a fun walk?

On Saturday, March 30, a crowd gathered in Highveld Mall’s food court; dressed to the nines in sportswear and red, and revving to go.

Each participant needed to donate a packet of sanitary products in order to be allowed to enter, though participants were urged to donate more should they be able to.

Participants completed five laps through the mall – collecting a different coloured sticker after each round until, upon completion of the fifth; they were given the magical red dot.

After earning the red dot, participants received a thank-you gift bag and a medal for their hard work and open hearts.

Highveld Mall and the Red Dot Project would like to thank all of those who so generously participated – your kind donations will go a long way in protecting the dignity of our young girls.
