These streets are not safe for our women

According to Wikipedia, only one in four rape cases is reported

Women in eMalahleni never seem to have peace with rape perpetrators just chilling around the corner.

Five women reported rape cases at Witbank Police Station in two days.

It is hard to understand why men, the same people who are viewed as protectors should cause harm to mothers and sisters.

Imagine walking to a taxi rank to get a taxi at 23:20 in Beatty Street and then a car with three males pull up by you.

On Thursday, April 18, a local woman went through that.

One of the males allegedly pointed a firearm at her to get into the car and they took all her belongings.

They drove on the Ogies road and stopped next to a bush.

One of the suspects undressed her and proceeded to rape her while the other two watched.

On Friday, April 19, four women reported rape cases.

One woman was allegedly raped in Siyanqoba around 01:00 in the morning.

The woman was at work when she was approached by an African male and took her to a bush and raped her.

The other three cases were reported at the same time around 22:00 at night and all happened at the Coronation area.

It is alleged by a woman that she and her four friends went out around 22:00 to get some food.

They came across 10 guys on their way back.

She was able to recognise one of them and called him by name.

He pointed a firearm at them.

The guys allegedly took them to a bush and raped the girls but it is unclear how many times they were raped and what happened to the fourth friend.

According to Wikipedia, only one in four rape cases is reported.

Think about the other cases that were not reported in the last week.
