Klarinet murder – mom appears this week

Maditla is being held at Middelburg Correctional Services

Zinhle Maditla will be appearing in court again this week.

Maditla, who stands accused of murdering her four children in Klarinet in late December will stand in the accuse box on May 9.

Her family will be there supporting her as they have since the beginning.

Mr Kevin Balance, grandfather of the four children, said that the family will not abandon the 24-year-old Maditla.

“Zinhle understand what she had done. She realises this is the biggest mistake of her life. She has not told us why she did what she did.”

Balance said in his opinion the stresses coming along with being a single mother must have caught up with her.

“Zinhle is a strong woman. But I think when the doors closed at night and she was left alone with the children, she cried silent tears. She never once gave us an indication that she was not coping.”

He said that there are many women who take up the roles as mother and father without any support, they struggle to keep their heads above water.

“As a family we have grown closer and we realise that the core of any family is trust and having each other’s back. We have learnt valuable lessons these past few months. The four little ones will always be missed.”

Maditla is being held at Middelburg Correctional Services.
