CPF puts spanner in alleged fraudster’s works

There are four cases opened against the man

A man accused of selling car parts that is not his, was arrested.

After several cases were opened against the man, members of Witbank Community Policing Forum (CPF) caught the man, made an arrest and handed the man over to Witbank SAPS on Friday, June 7.

Mr Lawrence Aubrey said people should make sure that the mechanic they take their vehicle’s to, are reliable.

“I took my Nissan Tiida for diagnostics. The man took it to a service station for the diagnostics to be done and left my vehicle there. I tried phoning the man several times but he kept avoiding my calls. My car was then impounded, because he did not bother to go and get my car. I am furious, because he left me with a lot of problems,” Aubrey said.

Mr Jacob Kotze is just as angry as Aubrey.

“I was working in Ellisras and looking for parts for our Hyundai 1500. A stranger contacted me and offered to sell me some parts. To make a long story short, I asked him, if he has so many parts, why does he not sell the whole car to me. He sent me photos of the car and I was chuffed because I could then fix my wife’s car. I paid him R7 000 and then all his story started why he could not bring the car. It was story after story after story and I just had enough. I posted a comment on Facebook that I was looking for the man and so many people responded that they also fell for his lies,” Kotze said.

It took Kotze only two days to track the man down.

“We arrested him and handed him to the police so that the law can take its course.”

There are four cases opened against the man.

He will again appear in court on June 14.
