Two business franchises get robbed

Fortunately, no one was brutally injured

Two local businesses were robbed in two separate days in the last week.

The first robbery took place at a fast food franchise in Voortrekker Street on Thursday, June 13 at around 21:30.

The security guard who was on duty, Mr Edmore Molambo alleged that two unknown men approached them when they were about to close and pointed him with a firearm.

“The men came inside the gate as I was going to close it and I had left my two-way radio inside the shop,” Molambo said.
He added: “I could not see their faces as they were wearing balaclavas, I could only see their eyes.”

The suspects instructed him to go into the store.

He further alleged that they kicked him and tied his hands.

He said that four other unknown men came into the shop and he thought he should lie down to avoid being hurt.

He said that the total of six suspects took three flat screen televisions, three cell phones and cash to the amount of R15 637.

Fortunately, no one was brutally injured.

The suspects have not been found.

The second robbery took place at a clothing store franchise in Klipfontein on Saturday, June 15 at around 10:00 in the morning.

The complainant alleged that she was on duty behind the counter assisting a customer in activating her card, when a lady entered the store and looked at the cell phones that were on display.

After a while, a man came into the store, went to the counter and pointed a firearm at the lady behind the counter.

The man demanded the cell phones on display.

He took the cell phones and a small box of sim cards that was on the counter and left the premises.
