Mable’s Majesty Foundation (MMF) aims to empower the youth and give back to the community of Emalahleni, focusing mainly on primary school learners.
MMF has set up a project to commemorate the youth of 1976.
This is to challenge and empower the learners of Makause Combined School, Mehlwane Secondary School and Mabande Comprehensive School by bringing change to their immediate surroundings.
Mehlwane Secondary School, Mabande Comprehensive School and Makause Combined School each selected eight learners from Grade 8 and 9 that participated in the competition.
The learners were required to clean the school’s facilities or repair where they can.
On June 10 MMF took pictures of the places in the schools that were identified by the staff members and the learners, that they thought needed maintaining.
The participants started cleaning the said facilities from June 11 to 13, after school hours.
On the June 14 MMF took ‘after’ pictures of the places that the learners and the staff members identified as a place that needs to be fixed or cleaned the pictures were taken in Makause Combined School, Mabande Comprehensive School and Mehlwane Secondary School.
MMF put the pictures up on Facebook and asked the public to vote for the school that they think made a huge difference.
The public could vote for the school of their choice by liking the post of that school.
The judges were judging the learners based on Facebook likes, stage presence, confidence, team work and work done. Mehlwane Secondary School placed first, followed by Mabande Comprehensive School. First Place got gift sets and a Neon IQ 7-inch WiFi Tablet (will be used by the school) and second place received stationary with dictionaries and diaries.
The tablets were sponsored by Mr Thapelo Maluleke and the stationary was sponsored by Ulwazi Computer Training Center.
This initiative was also supported by the Waya-Waya community movement and b-U Models South Africa.
