Dos and don’ts for a warm winter

Do
• Dress warmly, including a hat.
• Check on infants and older people, since it’s harder for them to maintain body heat.
• Use battery-powered lanterns instead of candles or kerosene lanterns.
• Close off unneeded rooms and close drapes at night.
• Drink plenty of water.

Don’t
• Use a camp stove inside. They emit deadly carbon monoxide gas.
• Open outside doors unless you have to.
• Use your fireplace unless the chimney has been cleaned.
• Store gasoline inside.
