Is ‘Man’s Best Friend’ safe?
The trail of blood from where the incident occurred will forever be imprinted in the minds of the Steyn family

Animal abuse is a big focus point in the streets of eMalahleni and it needs to urgently stop.
Early on Friday, July 26, a Pit Bull Terrier, Diesel, was a victim of animal abuse.
The incident occurred at Marisa Avenue at the Prisma Complex in Reyno Ridge.
Ms Linda Steyn, owner of the house stated that at about 08:40 the front door and gate was opened for Diesel to have a breath of fresh air outside, as he sleeps inside the house with his family.
Not even two minutes later a loud bang came from outside and Diesel came running back inside with blood coming from the top of his one eye.
Linda’s husband, Mr Ferdie Steyn, rushed outside and it became obvious what had happened; someone entered the yard and was spotted by Diesel.
After Diesel reacted, he took a hit to the top of his right eye with a suspected sharp, but roughly worked off object.
The suspect managed to escape the yard.
The trail of blood from where the incident occurred will forever be imprinted in the minds of the Steyn family.
She extended a warning on Whatsapp the morning of the incident: “Be vigilant, my Pit Bull was stabbed this morning. I never thought that this could happen to us; what a wake-up call.”
She mentioned that she was grateful her dog escaped with minimal harm and thankful that he was there to possibly save their lives.
Another incident took place on Wednesday, August 21, in Extention 16, where a dog’s life was in the hands of a veterinarian.
The vet was phoned to assist a wounded dog after the dog was stabbed in the leg with what seemed to be a wooden stick, broken in half.
The dog survived the horrific attack and is on the road to recovery.
