If you’re wondering where your local drug dealer has disappeared of to; he might very well be in jail.
Over the past week, Witbank SAPS have successfully affected six different drug related arrests.
On August 20, at approximately 20:00, two police officers were patrolling in Smuts Street when they drove past a suspicious man.
Upon spotting the police vehicle, the man started running.
The police officers sped up and caught up to the man; quickly conducting a bodily search and coming across three small packages of what is suspected to be drugs.
An arrest was affected immediately.
On the same day, at approximately the same time, two police officers were patrolling Tasbet Park when they spotted two suspicious men standing at the corner of Springbok Street.
The police searched the two men and found 16 small packages containing illicit drugs.
An arrest was affected immediately.
On the same day, at approximately 05:00, two police officers spotted a white Volkswagen Polo loitering around in Lukin Street.
The police officers approached the occupants of the vehicle and asked to search them.
The search turned up 21 small packages containing drugs.
An arrest was affected immediately.
On August 21, at approximately 19:00, a police officer was patrolling Beatty Street when he saw a suspicious looking man standing in a dimly lit area wearing a blue overall top and a denim.
He approached the man and asked to search him; to which the man agreed.
The police officer found seven small parcels wrapped in plastic that are suspected to be illicit drugs.
An arrest was immediately affected.
On August 22, at approximately 19:00, two police officers were patrolling Van de Venter Street when they came across a man dealing drugs.
He was immediately arrested, and R500 worth of contraband was found on his person.
On Sunday, August 25, Witbank SAPS received a tip off that a suspect was travelling from eMalahleni to Johannesburg in order to purchase illegal drugs.
The tip off included the make, model and colour of the car as well as its registration number.
Witbank SAPS, along with members of the Middelburg highway patrol, conducted an observation on the N12.
During the observation, the suspect was spotted, the vehicle was stopped and searched.
The search turned up 474 pinches of heroin to the value of R18 960.
The suspect was arrested and charged with possession of drugs.
