Gerhard Smit, owner of Pink Panther said he did not have a clue when he started the club

Eventually Pink Panther Nightclub is 21 years old.

This club which took its first baby steps on August 28, 1998 popped the champagne this weekend and celebrated this milestone.

Gerhard Smit, owner of Pink Panther said he did not have a clue when he started the club.

β€œI was working at Highveld as an artisan. I knew nothing about the entertainment industry.”

But advice and tips from people in the industry got him going soon.

β€œIn the beginning I only had one case of beer, one bottle of brandy and one odd bottle of whiskey on the shelves. At a stage I sold my car to pay wages. Only in the ninth month did I break even.”

Gerhard look back today and said it was the best decision he ever made.

He thanks everyone who played a role in the growth of this club, which is the oldest club in eMalahleni.
