Get to know ‘My Brother’s Wife’
The series was shot in eMalahleni and it is performed by young and upcoming actors and actresses
We are approaching the 22nd Century but seems like old traditions are following us but it all depends on what you believe in.
A locally produced drama series called ‘My Brother’s Wife’ is all about the twists and turns of what was passed on from the old to young in a certain family.
The series was shot in eMalahleni and it is performed by young and upcoming actors and actresses.
It was shot from May this year in places such as schools and medical surgeries in eMalahleni and it premiered on the Sunday evening, September 15.
One of the lead actors Mcebisi Maseko said that the premier was a success and it was enjoyed so much.
Mcebisi explained what the series is about.
“It is about a couple that cannot conceive children and they have been trying since they got married. The husband’s brother moves in to stay with them while he furthers his studies at a tertiary institution.” He continued: “The husband worked far from home and then the wife and brother are convinced to sleep together so that a child for the husband can be conceived. The husband somehow knows that he is infertile so it becomes difficult to convince him that he is the father of the child.”
Three audition events were held in Izodela Centre in Lynnville, Mabaleng student residence and Tshwane University of Technology eMalahleni campus to get the most talented actors and actresses for the series.
The producer of the series, Jacques Muepu said that the shooting of the series was fine and a good experience.
“We managed to overcome all challenges and we have a very good product.”
He added that they are patient about getting the series to people’s TV screens.
“We are still pushing the marketing and broadcasting side of the series. We plan to have it seen first in eMalahleni before anywhere else soon.”
