‘I thought it was one of my tenants’
22 431 robberies at residential areas were reported since April 2018 to March 2019

“I was sitting on the sofa and using my laptop. I heard a knock on the door and quickly attended to it because I thought it was one of the tenants I stay with in the yard,” said Ms Sibongile
Mtshweni who was robbed at her house last week.
She said that the robbery took place on Saturday, September 21 around 22:00.
“When I opened the door I saw two men with their faces covered and one of them pointed a firearm at me. They directed me to sit down, another man came in and they took my Hifi sound system and my laptop,” she explained.
Ms Mtshweni was alone in the house that evening as her sister had gone home and she added that the suspects did not hurt her in any way.
Fortunately, Ms Mtshweni has the stolen items covered for insurance.
