Inquest case open after an alleged shootout

The police rushed to the scene and found a body lying in Main Street CBD (Central Business District)

A call came through to the Witbank Police Station stating that there was an active shootout in Main Street.

On October 17 the hysterical complainant phoned SAPS to report a ‘murder’.

The police rushed to the scene and found a body lying in Main Street CBD (Central Business District).

On further investigation it was alleged that the deceased was being chased by a white Ford Focus and a Quantum taxi moments before the deceased dropped down in the middle of the street.

A bystander on scene alleged that shots were fired but there were no gunshot wounds found on the deceased.

The cause of death of the man could not be confirmed by time of print and a case of inquest was open for further investigation.
