Snared leopard collared and released
The leopard was darted and then a tracking device was placed around his neck
10 months after being trapped in a snare and receiving numerous treatments a collar was placed on the leopard and released back into the wild.
On Saturday, October 19 Dr Nolan Landman went to uBhetyan-O-Africa to do the final dart of the leopard that has been busy with rehabilitation since February.
The leopard was darted and then a tracking device was placed around his neck, from there he was moved into another area where the leopard was woken up and released back into the wild.
It all happened last year when Mr Deon Cornelius the owner from uBhetyan-O-Africa was informed about a leopard trapped in a snare on December 23.

Deon went out as he is an avid animal lover he knew the leopard had to be rescued from the snare.
He chemically immobilized the leopard and transported it to Witbank Veterinary Hospital.
Landman was waiting for the severely injured leopard to arrive at the practise.
Once the leopard arrived the snare was removed and the wound was cleaned and snitched up.
On the Monday, December 31 the leopard was taken back into theatre for the third time as it had severe damage to its chest muscles.
From then the leopard was in and out of theatre checking the wound to see the process of healing.
Finally on Wednesday, February 13 the leopard’s wound was checked for the last time and he was given the all clear to be released into a rehabilitation centre.
Deon collected the leopard and was taken to uBhetyan-O-Africa where he was rehabilitated.
Deon was happy with his process and that is why he was released back into his own environment.
