A promised future for the ‘klipvrou’

Promise is currently residing at the Ethembeni Children's Haven and she is adjusting very well

The residents of eMalahleni have come to know and love the old lady sitting in front of Eastvaal Ford Garage in Mandela Drive.

She is better known as the “Klipvrou” and come rain or shine she would always be there, just sitting and staring at the cars.

Numerous attempts from the community to remove her from the area were always met with disappointment as she would return within a few days to her spot.

Like many others Pastor Jeremiah Zulu would pass her and contemplate on how to help the homeless Promise Ndlovu from her fate.

“Every time I would drive past her I would start praying and asked God to show me the way,” said Zulu.

Pastor Jeremiah Zulu.

But on Friday November 22 Zulu passed her again, “God spoke to me and showed me his plan. I’ve stopped their many times but she never wanted to leave, always telling me to come back another time, but on this wonderful Friday she did not resist. I asked her to go sit in the shade so I could clean her spot and that we would leave after I have cleaned. Without arguing she stood up and left to go sit under a tree. I called my friend Maureen Scheepers and asked her if she could assist me with cleaning the area, she arrived within minutes with her team from South African Community Crime Watch (SACCW) and we started to clean the area. I spotted a cross across the road at the Meat and Fish entrance and I walked there to ask them where they had the cross made as I wanted to place a cross at the area we were busy cleaning. Miraculously he said that he had a spare cross and gave it to me. Another friend of mine Samson Ramushu arrived with a bakkie to load all the rubbish and assisted with the tools and cement for our altar. We all worked together and we managed to build an altar at the spot where Promise has been living all these years,” Zulu told the story to WITBANK NEWS.

This miracle that was busy happening made all people involved take hands as they started praying.

“We all started praying at the cross, our prayer was a prayer to prevent Promise from ever returning to this area, because God wants more for her life and we prayed for her to be released from anything that was binding her, we prayed against poverty, for the homeless and the helpless of eMalahleni. While we were praying the sales staff of Eastvaal Ford all came out to join us. We then made a big circle around the cross, joined hands and prayed together for Promise and the whole of eMalahleni,” Zulu said amazed.

As they finished off the prayer they tried yet again to get her to go with Pastor Zulu to a safe haven, although the thought of her resisting came up…

“After we were done we walked to where Promise was sitting in the shade. I told her ‘come mamma, let’s go to your new home’ and she got up and walked with us. She stopped for a second and looked at the clean area and the cross and then walked and got into my car. This moment was so huge for all of us when she got into the car out of free will that we couldn’t hold back the tears,” Zulu said proudly.

While everyone is fussing about Black Friday, Pastor Zulu wanted to pray a white light of power over the businesses, for prosperity.

For the homeless and poverty stricken in the city to come towards the light and become what God intended them to be without any bondage.

Promise is currently residing at the Ethembeni Children’s Haven and she is adjusting very well.

“She attended church with us on Sunday and she is becoming more social with the staff and community every day. She seems content and peaceful,” he said and smiled.

If anyone would like to contribute towards the care of Promise at the home they can contact the Ethembeni Staff on 013 650 0090 for more information on her everyday needs.

“This was God’s plan, we were only the instruments, all glory to Him,” Zulu concluded.
