As everyone was getting ready for the festive season, one family from Mbombela was in mourning after a family member was killed in a tragic accident.
The accident happened on Friday, December 13 at approximately 09:00 on the N4 highway towards the Middelburg Toll Plaza.

Mr Darlinaton Matanda was driving a truck with trailers on the N4 highway in the same direction when the accident occurred.
Matanda alleged that he was travelling in the left lane and there was a bakkie in the right lane.
Mr Carel Els was travelling in his Toyota Land Cruiser; it seemed as if Els had just purchased the vehicle as there were flowers, a bottle of wine and a congratulations wooden box inside the vehicle.
Matanda alleged that Els tried to overtake him in the yellow lane when he collided into the back of the trailer.
The Toyota Land Cruiser came to a stop in the middle of the highway.
On scene the driver of another bakkie stopped in complete shock.
“I really don’t know how that car missed me,” said the driver of the bakkie on scene.
Els leaves behind his wife and two children.
