Major Mhlanga added that the red ribbons symbolised love as the Lord Jesus Christ has called that “we unite and love one another as Christians"

Dressed in black with red ribbons Hlanganani Combined Church held a mass memorial service in remembrance of congregants who found eternal peace in the Lord.

According to Major Sophy Mhlanga who is also the president of Hlanganani, they found this gesture very significant to commemorate the lives of members who additionally toiled righteous deeds in the church.

The service was held on Thursday, March 12, at Lutheran Reform Church in Lynnville.

“Today we are joined in a mass prayer meeting that we call Women’s World Day of Prayer, we engaged as a committee to remember our lovely women who died from 2018, 2019 and earlier this year, January. We said we want to remember them without wearing our church attires because we come from different congregations, we are wearing black as a gesture of remembrance as we were praying with them but God had other plans with their lives,” she explained.

Major Mhlanga added that the red ribbons symbolised love as the Lord Jesus Christ has called that “we unite and love one another as Christians.”

Secretary of the Combined Church, Ms Lorna Masago encouraged other women to join the congregation as they build each other during their services and in future services.

“We do not only preach the Word of God, but we also help, empower and teach each other as women on how to overcome challenges. We are pleading with them to someday come and join us and through that, we can achieve and reach great milestones because the prayer of united women is strong and powerful,” said sister Masango.
