Watch: And here it is, live footage of the Egyptian Vulture roaming the skies above Bankenveld

Local resident Mr Neels Snyman who has been a passionate birdwatcher since 1977 said Egyptian Vultures are extremely rare

Mr Dick Jacobs from Vikela Game Breeders took this video on April 15 just after the vulture enjoyed a mouth-watering snack Dick puts out for it every day.

“We have so many unanswered questions. We don’t know if the vulture is a nomadic visitor that stopped off for a quick snack, or maybe it plans to make eMalahleni his home. We wonder where it comes from,” Dick said.

He also mentioned that this vulture is a juvenile and leaves the question where is its mommy and daddy and siblings for that matter.

Local resident Mr Neels Snyman who has been a passionate birdwatcher since 1977 said Egyptian Vultures are extremely rare.

“They can be found in the Kruger National Park, but to find one here on the Highveld is unheard of,” Neels said the bird is still a juvenile.

Keep your eyes fixed on the skies; maybe you are lucky enough to spot this bird that has caused so much excitement.
