Egyptian Vulture not seen for the past week

Dickens bids eMalahleni farewell

The Egyptian Vulture that checked in for a quick visit has left. The vulture that was dubbed, Dickens, has not been seen since last week.

Dickens visited Bankenveld Nature Reserve and had all bird watchers praying for the lockdown to end so that they could come for a meet and greet.

“We made sure Dickens had a healthy menu to choose from each day. But the colder weather must have been too much for it,” said Dick Jacobs who spotted Dickens snacking away in the reserve early in April.

After the photos and videos went viral Dick’s phone has not stopped ringing with enquiries.

“If we are lucky Dickens might just return next year,” Dick said.
