Water pump stolen at children’s home in Hlalanikahle

The water pump at the Umpumelo Umuhle Children’s Home vanished overnight.

The water pump at the Umpumelo Umuhle Children’s Home vanished overnight.

Centre manager Ms Johanna Mhlambi said the pump went missing on Tuesday, April 28 at the centre in Hlalanikahle.

The centre takes care of orphan children some of which are brought to the centre by the department of social development while others are sent by the police.

“This is a setback to the centre as we rely on donations and it will take us a long time to secure or buy another pump for the centre,” said Ms Mhlambi.

Presently the centre has six children with the oldest 12-years-old while the youngest is five-years-old.

The matter has been reported to the police.
