Thousands of ciggies and litres of alcohol confiscated
Domestic violence was highlighted during the lockdown period and locally 13 people were arrested for domestic violence

Alcohol flowed down the drain as 1 371 litres were confiscated thus far during the lockdown period.
Smokers are still grinding their teeth for one cigarette, but the SAPS were very strict and confiscated 8 644 packets if ciggies since the President announced the national lockdown.
More than a thousand people did not adhere to the Disaster Management Act on level five and four and were arrested in the Witbank Cluster.
As the country reached the implementation of level three of the lockdown the cluster saw 1 145 people arrested for not adhering to the President’s call to adhere to certain regulations as set out in the previous tow levels.
It was not only people contravening the Disaster Management that kept the cluster busy; criminals did not stay indoors as well.
Altogether 472 were arrested for various crimes.
Eleven suspects were arrested for murder, seven for rape, three for sexual assault and 17 for assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm.
Eleven suspects were apprehended for house robberies and 12 for business robberies.
Ten suspects could not leave other people’s property alone and were arrested for malicious damage to property.
The illicit drug trade was booming, but 66 suspects could not escape the long arm of the law while three suspects were arrested for selling liquor.
Three suspects were arrested for illegal firearms, one for pointing of a firearm, 17 for house break-in and 24 for having suspected stolen property in their possession.
Ten people are in trouble for allegedly driving under the influence and two were arrested for reckless and or negligent driving.
A whopping 177 illegal immigrants were arrested.

A further 62 people were arrested for general theft, four for trespassing and four for intimidation.
“We will enforce level three regulations of the Disaster Management Act as promulgated in the Government Gazette to the letter,” Brigadier Lindane Ndlovu, Station Commander of Witbank Police Station said.
Brigadier Ndlovu warned the public to stick to essential travelling and movement during level three as perpetrators will be arrested.
