‘TuffDaddy’ gets Masters from the US

“Age is just a number and has nothing to do with achievement – that takes determination,” Mr Tony Mphahlele known as TuffDaddy shared with WITBANK NEWS after getting his Master’s Degree in Gender Studies.
The former presenter at eMalahleni FM, received this astonishing Master’s Degree at the golden age of 61 years in March 2020.
Mphahlele recalled embarking on his Master’s studies at Logos University in 2018, as a follow-up to a Bachelor of Arts degree which he completed in the mid-90s.
Logos University is based in Florida, United States but has a campus in Johannesburg, Gauteng. ‘TuffDaddy’s’ degree is in Gender Studies, for which he completed a dissertation based on Woman Empowerment and Leadership.
He graduated virtually (locally) because he couldn’t fly to the United States due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The decision to embark on a Master’s Degree was taken after Bishop Dr Ezrom Zulu graduated for his Doctorate at the same university.
“My lifelong love affair with education also prompted me to register for the programme at Logos in the United States. I am indebted to my former employer, the Department of Employment and Labour who financed my studies,” the proud Mphahlele said.
According to Mphahlele, the support and guidance provided by his dissertation supervisor, Dr David Molapo, also a dean of faculty at Logos was undoubtedly the highlight of his course of study.
“I’m greatly indebted to him for his encouragement and guidance,” he gratefully added.
In response to the question ‘what’s next for you?’ TuffDaddy responded that “I’m currently pursuing a Doctorate at Logos University on Female Leadership and Workplace Barriers, a Case Study in the Public Sector”.
