Premier gives thumbs up for school relocation
Premier Mtsweni-Tsipane added to say that consolation needs to be held to acquire land for the school.
Mpumalanga Premier Refilwe Mtsweni-Tsipane visited Mokibe Primary accompanied by Education MEC Bonakele Majuba to make sure that learners and teachers and the supporting staff are relocated to Mogalitwa Primary School in Klarinet.
The visit on Monday, June 8 follows the bad situation at the school.
In a press statement from her office, the premier said she has been aware of the situation at the school which is why the school has received mobile classrooms before the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.
“I wanted to make sure that all the Grade 7 learners, their teachers and supporting staff are moved to Mogalitwa Primary School.
The school situation is not acceptable at all and the learners will be moved to Mogalitwa on a temporal basis until a lasting solution has been found to move the school to a new area.

She said the eMalahleni Municipality has agreed to offer land for the school while at the same time they need to consult with the traditional leaders as well as Community Property Association (CPA), parents and other stakeholders to address the challenges and reach a lasting solution for a place for the school.
Premier Mtsweni-Tsipane also emphasised that most schools in the province are ready and all the essentials have been provided while in other schools jojo tanks have been secured.
Some parents raised their concern about the school moving to another place but they were assured that they will be consulted through a task team to find a lasting solution.
The premier also thanked Inyanda Coal Mine and Eskom for donating mobile classrooms and Inyanda are also prepared to dig a borehole and put up a fence at the school.

The delegation was accompanied by officials from the department of health led by Dr Cheryl Nelson.
