‘Pawsome’ duo ready to brave the cold tonight

This morning the total contributions to the SPCA stood on R88 879.

The response to the SPCA’s #KeepThemCagedIn fundraiser has had an overwhelming reaction.

This morning the total contributions stood on R88 879.

The public heard Doctor Nolan Landman’s plea and blankets, and cat-and-dog food is streaming in.

In an emotional video early on Tuesday morning, Doc Nolan said at around 04:00 it was bitter cold.

“At around 03:00 one of the dogs came to snuggle up against me. It breaks my heart to know there are so many dogs out there in other shelters that have no body heat to warm them up,” Doc Nolan said.

Amongst the donations were blankets donated by K9 Effect.

Ms Cher Kruger from K9 Effect told her friends about the #KeepThemCagedIn project and in a matter of just a few days there were enough blankets to drop off.

“We know that the SPCA is doing a great job, they need help as much as possible,” Cher said.

Last night Doc Nolan’s companion was Yoda, a one-year-old cross pug. This boy was left behind when his owners moved. Yoda likes cuddles and Doc Nolan got his fair share of cuddles from Yoda last night.

“I loved spending time with Yoda, we had a heart-to-heart chat last night,” Doc Nolan said.

Liz had some girl-time with Jess, a one-year-old cross Labrador. The two ladies spent the night chatting about everything there is to chatter about.

The cold front is knocking on the door and tonight will be a real test for Nolan and Liz. South Africans can expect a chilly week ahead and an even colder weekend as a huge cold front is making its way here.

According to a forecast released by South African Weather, a low-pressure system has been gaining momentum and can be expected to reach our shores on Thursday. The mercury is sure to drop below zero.

“I’m in tears; I can hardly see my phone screen. There are still people out there who care and pay it forward. May every soul be blessed that donated, shared and support this project,” Liz said.
