Management took a decision to intensify the patrol on the perimeters of the Correctional Centre by Emergency Services Team and other Correctional officials

Witbank Correctional Officials work tirelessly to prevent contrabands entering the facility.
On July 9 correctional officers prevented contrabands from making their way into the centre when three men were caught attempting to smuggle contrabands into Witbank Correctional Centre.
This victory comes after officers found a large number of contrabands the previous week during a random search.
Upon further investigation, it was discovered that this might not be the last incident.
Management took a decision to intensify the patrol on the perimeters of the Correctional Centre by Emergency Services Team and other Correctional officials.
This bold decision led to the successful capture of three suspects.
The area commissioner, Rev Mandla Sibanyoni, applauded the excellent work done by the officials, “In the midst of all the pain and stress caused by Covid-19, we still have committed officials in our area. I would like to take this opportunity and thank the team that worked tirelessly to arrest the thugs who cause problems for us. My heartfelt gratitude to all of you. You are simply the best and may God bless you.”
The contraband items found were 4kg USN anabolic, three litres of alcohol, 42 cartons of cigarettes, a radio, 10 packets of Knorr soup, two packets of Knorrox stock cubes, two bottles of Robertsons spices and a 900g peanut butter.
“The suspects have been identified as two former inmates and one parolee who were all previously incarcerated at the centre and are assumed to have unlawful contact with offenders,” said Rev Sibanyoni.
This act refutes the measures set by the department to combat the spread of Covid-19 by suspending all visits to the Correctional Centre.
Movements remain restricted with the exception of essential work teams and direct contact with the public is prohibited to safeguard the lives of the offenders.
Correctional Services is deeply concerned about this illicit conduct of the community members.
The department appeals to the community to refrain from smuggling contrabands to the centres.
