Winter lifesavers mark 67 minutes of Madiba
The donations were also distributed to shelters in other cities like Johannesburg on Madiba
Charlton Bowman and Gadswin Maider got children of Jabez shelter in eMalahleni excited when they donated items of winter “lifesavers” clothing in order to mark 67 minutes of Madiba Day on Saturday, July 18.
This was after author and motivational speaker Nollan Moosa identified that there was a major need with some important items of clothing such as baby diapers which are often overlooked during donations.
“It is heartbreaking but babies can be homeless as well. Anyone who has had an infant knows how expensive diapers can be.”
The donations were also distributed to shelters in other cities like Johannesburg on Madiba.
“I asked these two gentlemen who are very close friends of mine to make the donations in eMalahleni because I had other donations in Johannesburg and also in Middelburg,” he said.
Nollan who described himself as “humble” said he feels like he has a moral duty to use what he has to help others; a sentiment rooted in his personal values and principles.
“Having the power to improve the lives of others is, to me, a privilege, and one that comes with its own sense of obligation. Acting on these powerful feelings of responsibility is a great way to reinforce our own personal values and feel like we’re living in a way that is true to our own ethical beliefs,” he shared.
Furthermore, Nollan express his pledge of gratitude to everyone who offered a helping hand during this initiative to “save lives.”
“I am grateful to everyone who donated and I am currently busy with a different drive at the moment ‘sanitary pads’ for August 9 to celebrate Women’s Day, thereafter I will be working on donating food parcels,” he added.
