The ‘Dignity Bag Project’ needs your help!

Our main aim for this project will be to restore the dignity of these women and assist them with their sanitary needs while living on the streets or in poverty

Residents of eMalahleni can help women feel worthy and valued by putting a little bit of dignity back in the community.

WITBANK NEWS earlier wrote about The South African Community Crime Watch (SACCW) that launched the ‘Dignity Bag Project’ in March of this year.

The initial plan was to have the project run from the launch date that took place on Human Rights Day, March 21 and end on National Woman’s Day, August 9 this year.

“During lockdown and to date we have distributed over 60 bags where we found the need, unfortunately, our stock has run dry and we need urgent donations to make up the next batch of bags. We have decided to have the project run indefinitely as there is such a need from the women of our city. We handed out Dignity Bags to poverty-stricken women around eMalahleni but when the lockdown started the focus changed and so did the need,” said Maureen Scheepers, founder of the project.

The ‘Dignity Bag’ consists of a bag that has been made up of toiletries and daily necessities for the homeless and less fortunate women as reported in previous articles by WITBANK NEWS.

The dignity bag each consist of:
1 x Roll-on
1 x Spray
1 x Small pack of pads
1 x Toothbrush
1 x Toothpaste
1 x Shampoo
1 x Bar of soap
1 x Nail clipper
1 x Washcloth
1 x Body lotion
1 x Pack of wet wipes

If anyone would like to contribute with donations towards these bags, they can contact Christell Oberholzer on 065 171 3080 for further arrangements.

“Our main aim for this project will be to restore the dignity of these women and assist them with their sanitary needs while living on the streets or in poverty, please assist us in this Woman’s Month to help the women of eMalahleni,” Scheepers concluded.
