When the Mokoena family received their new house at Siyanqoba they were happy but their happiness was short-lived.

Mr Jan Manqoba Mokoena (54) is now struggling to move in and around the house as he is wheelchair-bound.

Mr Mokoena had a stroke four years ago which put him in a wheelchair.

He stays with his wife in the house, who needs time and again to fetch water from a JoJo tank a few metres from the house.

Mr Mokoena says he cannot help his wife with this task, as he cannot manoeuvre his wheelchair outside in the sand.

“I struggle a lot when my wife is out as I cannot go out to fetch water as we use a lot of water in the house, even to flush our toilet. I wish somebody can donate a JoJo to put in the yard and I wish to have concrete in the yard so that I can move around. I sometimes feel like going outside to enjoy the sun, but I cannot do that,” said Mr Mokoena.
