(Video) Skaters looking for a proper skate park in eMalahleni

With not much to do in eMalahleni, a couple of youngsters have taken up skateboarding and BMXing to keep themselves busy.
Instead, they are using their energy for the good.
Two very keen skaters in eMalahleni are talking on behalf of the skating community here.
The main problem is that in eMalahleni there is no proper skate park or a BMX track.
Many of the places where skaters and BMX riders have been practising, they get chased away from the property.

At this stage, many youngsters have joined in the skateboarding and BMXing group.
“We are looking for a proper skate and BMX park in eMalahleni,” said Moshake Tjatji (25) photographer and videographer for the skaters.
He started his career with another group of kids on the streets and since then he has moved to film the skaters of eMalahleni.
At this stage, Moshake is also learning how to skate as he needs to be able to skate to capture the movement of the skaters.

Edward Selala (24) is a skater who started skating in 2009 when he asked a girl if he could use her skateboard; so he jumped on and that is where the love started.
“I then got my first skateboard and since then I have been on my skateboard,” said Edward; his role model is Rodney Mullen who is a well-known skater.
Another keen skater is Mthokozisi Masuku (22) who also started skating in 2009.
He jumped on a speed board at first and then has been skating ever since on his skateboard; his role model is also Rodney.
“We have fallen many times, but we always get up and shake it off to get on again to ace the trick or stunt,” said Edward.
“We both would like to be pro skaters one day, competing with the best,” said Mthokozisi.
