Eskom changes service providers for buying of prepaid electricity vouchers, major banks and retailers are still authorised vendors

Please buy your prepaid vouchers in the first week of December at your closest retail store, supermarket or petrol station

Eskom wishes to inform its customers that the existing national vending contract for prepaid electricity vouchers will end on November 30, with the new vending contracts coming into effect on December 1.

This means that some customers may no longer be able to buy electricity tokens/vouchers from their usual vending points.

The process of buying will remain exactly the same.

Customers will still use their meter numbers to buy prepaid electricity.

All authorized vendors will also display a notice indicating that “Eskom Pre-paid Electricity Sold Here, and will also prominently display the Eskom logo”.

The new vendors are:

  1. CigiCell (Pty) Ltd
  2. Contour Technology (Pty) Ltd
  3. Ontec Systems (Pty) Ltd
  4. R&A Cellular (Pty) Ltd
  5. Sandulela Technology (Pty) Ltd

In order to ensure easy accessibility to sales points, these vendors come in addition to the major banks, petrol stations, supermarkets and national retail stores, who will all continue to sell prepaid electricity to Eskom customers.

A full list is available on our website. In the short term some of the usual shops or cash and carry stores may not be able to sell prepaid electricity, but this is being addressed as the new vendors will get them on board soon.

Please buy your prepaid vouchers in the first week of December at your closest retail store, supermarket or petrol station.

The online vending facilities such as buying on online banking and other online services will still be available, and customers are encouraged to use these as much as possible during the transition period.

Eskom wishes to apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause to some customers in the short term.

We will use various channels to ensure that all customers know of the new vendors and where to buy their prepaid electricity as from December 1.

Please do make sure that you are buying from legal vendors. An authentic Eskom Prepaid Electricity Voucher will show the following key features: the Eskom VAT registration no 4740101508, Megawatt Park address; and a receipt number starting with the vending agent code.

Illegal vendors issue verbal or hand written illegal prepaid electricity vouchers.
