The 20 beneficiaries of the new gazebos, tables and chairs women hawkers received.

“We are giving back to our communities as we have noticed that our mothers sell their goods under very difficult conditions. We are giving a lending hand to them as they make a living to support their families. We hope they’re going to benefit a lot through the project, and we hope to reach out to more hawkers in the future,” said Ms Mathoana.

Cllr Derrick Sikhosana representing the executive mayor thanked the sponsor for choosing eMalahleni for the donation.

He also alluded to the fact they have also noticed that the hawkers are struggling to feed their families using plastic and other materials for their shelters.

“We are really blessed, and we need to unite as business is now in our hands. Women have always been in the forefront to make better living for their families. We need to stand up and not be lazy.”
