Emalahleni united in prayer
After any storm a rainbow appears, and so did the people of eMalahleni appear in unity to seek God’s face in prayer for our city and country.

“Our flag is red, green and blue, but our nation is a rainbow – yellow, brown, black and white and we are all precious in God’s sight.” – Jesse Jackson. The colours of the South African flag represent a rainbow and so does our nation.
After any storm a rainbow appears, and so did the people of eMalahleni appear in unity to seek God’s face in prayer for our city and country. On July 18, the people of eMalahleni came together at the Witbank High sports grounds to pray for unity in South Africa amidst the looting spree in other parts of the country.
“We arranged a prayer meeting for our entire city after the president called on all churches to come together and pray for the country. An open-air service was held with all relevant key role players in our coal city where we stood together in prayer,” said Pastor Nadine van Schalkwyk from Living Word Witbank Church.
The mandate of prayer where everybody was stood in agreement as one could give anyone the chills with the presence of God on the day of the event. The event was attended by numerous entities, including emergency services with representatives from all corners, the South African Police Service, ambulance services, towing services, the taxi association, bike clubs and many more. The scriptures and theme was about God calling this nation to seek His face in these uncertain times we face.
Pastor Andries van Schalkwyk from The Living Word Church said: “In the book of Revelations 7:9 we read: After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.” “The moment I look at South Africa where we call ourselves the Rainbow nation, I can see that the table is set for God to really move in our nation because we really are a nation of every tribe and every tongue. God demands a blessing wherever there is unity, so as the body of Christ we need to stand together in unity,” Andries led the service.
The Executive Mayor, Cllr Linah Malatjie attended the United in Prayer meeting and mention that she is declaring eMalahleni the City of God. She further said that the community should continue fighting against anything that causes our city and people harm.
“It amazed me how everyone participated in this successful event. To see all our people from different cultures and races come together for one cause, to stand in prayer for our South Africa,” Nadine added. The service came down to one thing, the people of eMalahleni believes in a Mighty God that can move mountains. “We would like to honour the Mayor for attending the prayer meeting and for being a woman that believes in the power of prayer. It was an honour to stand together in unity with her for eMalahleni and South Africa,” Nadine proudly concluded.
