Finger recovering slowly, after been slammed in door

Four months later the finger has almost healed itself and the nail has started growing back

A resident from eMalahleni’s daughter slammed her finger in a door accidentally and it took months and months for the finger to heal.

Ms Ayanda Mhlanga, the mother of the seven-year-old whose finger was slammed in a door in February took her daughter straight to the clinic where she was told to take her to Witbank Provincial Hospital.

She was admitted into hospital on a Thursday and by the following Tuesday, February 16 she was discharged from hospital with a report saying the finger was fractured.

Her finger was bandaged and a piece of plastic was underneath the bandage covering the finger.

“She was sent home with no action taken on the finger,” said Mhlanga.

When she was discharged, she was sent home with pain medication for a broken, bleeding and swollen finger.

February 18 the wound started going septic and that is when Mhlanga took her daughter back to the hospital to get some answers.

A month later Mhlanga received a call to go back to the hospital with her daughter where doctors were waiting for them.

She was told that the finger will come right by itself.

Four months later the finger has almost healed itself and the nail has started growing back.
