SAPS rolls up their sleeves to vac

Local police were happy to get jabbed.

South African police officers took their first jab of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine on Tuesday, July 27.

This comes after the launch of the provincial vaccination drive for SAPS members.

According to Captain Eddie Hall from Witbank Police Station, close to 755 local police officers have received their jab of Johnson and Johnson at the vaccination site that was set up at New Life Church.

Capt Hall added that they’re aiming at vaccinating approximately close to 11 000 police officers.

Police officers were ready and happy to get vaccinated, and they encouraged other police to get vaccinated, hence they work with people day in and day out.

Nurses were pleased to see the police coming in numbers to get the jab, and there were no side effects or any kind of sickness reported.

The coordinator of the vaccination drive for the police, from the Department of Health Sister Amanda Mondlane told WITBANK NEWS  that, this program is going to continue until the first week of August.

Sr Modlane said at first some members were anxious and not comfortable taking the dosage, but after everything was explained to them, they were relieved, and the vaccination process went smoothly.

“I would like to encourage everybody to get vaccinated because Covid is real, and it’s a deadly disease that will take many lives. Therefore, we need to take the jab so that we can stop the spread of this deadly virus,” said Sr Mondlane.

Sr Mondlane concluded by urging not only the police officers, but everybody, to take the vaccine so that the spread of the virus could be curbed. More police officers are expected to be vaccinated until the first week of August.
