Vosman Police urge the community to adhere to the disaster management lockdown regulations

Noticeable failure to comply with Covid-19 health protocols by some members of the community

The Vosman Station Commander, Brigadier Lindani Ndlovu, is urging the community of Vosman to adhere to the Disaster Management Lockdown Regulations Level 3 at all times.

The concern emanates from a noticeable failure to comply with Covid-19 health protocols by some members of the community.

The station commander indicated that the community is aware that at funerals, only 50 people are allowed to attend and the same applies to religious groups, at which strict health protocols are to be followed.

“There are several people that police have arrested for not wearing their masks, and this is a serious sign of disregard of the Disaster Management Regulations,” said Brigadier Ndlovu.

He calls on all sectors of the community to abide by the regulations as many people have lost their precious lives because of Covid-19.

Another warning goes to the liquor outlets, restaurant owners, and entertainment venues to adhere to curfew hours, which are between 22:00 and 04:00.

“Police find it very strange that some liquor outlets, as well as restaurant owners and entertainment venues, deliberately disobey the law by operating beyond the stipulated time, by allowing customers to access their premises as opposed to the regulated threshold of 50 people or less for indoor and 100 for outdoor venues,” he added.

They also keep customers beyond the curfew time and Brig Ndlovu said that the community should continue to inform police about such businesses as they show a degree of lawlessness.

“Such business owners will be given a fine or spend six months in prison. They may also receive both punishments as contemplated in Section 36 of the Disaster Management Act. These businesses must also make sure that their customers comply with the health protocols at all times. The community is reminded to always wear their masks when in public spaces because failure to comply will have serious consequences,” Brigadier Ndlovu concluded.
