Fraudster who used stolen IDs to buy cars ends up in jail
Police welcomes the sentence

A 32-year-old Zimbabwean will spend 15 behind bars after he was found guilty and sentenced off fraud.
Arthur Moyo was found guilty and sentenced by the Middelburg Regional Court on Friday, September 10 fraud of over R1.6 million.
Moyo was convicted for four counts of fraud and one count of contravening Sec18(1) and Sec18 (2) of the Identification Act Act 68 of 1997. He was sentenced to 23 years imprisonment; however the court ruled that accused will serve 15 years effectively.
Moyo’s conviction came after he went to Nel Auto Mazda here in eMalahleni and Ford in Nelspruit and used counterfeit bank statements, salary slips, counterfeit ID documents bearing his photo to made applications for vehicle finance in November 2017.
“After the applications were approved he collected the said vehicles,” said Captain Dineo Lucy Sekgotodi from the Hawks.
She said he did the same at Klerksdorp Motor Smart on November 17, 2016, again in Polokwane Galactic Auto on January 13, 2017 and also in Rustenburg, Leons Rustenburg Ford on January 13, 2017.
The total value suffered by the banks is over R1.6 million.
The provincial head for the directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Major General Zodwa Mokoena welcome the sentence.
She further applauded the investigating team for securing a successful conviction on multiple cases in all three provinces which are Mpumalanga, Limpopo and Gauteng.
