Acting station commander calls on motorists to be vigilant when driving
Four hijacking cases reported at Vosman Police Station within five days

The Acting Station Commander of Vosman, Colonel Gayane Mashego has called on community members to be more vigilant when driving their vehicles and avoid becoming easy targets.
The Colonel’s plea stems from recent incidents of hijackings which were reported at Vosman Police Station within a short period of time.
In the first incident, the complainant told the police that he was driving a Mercedes Benz truck loaded with sweets along the N4 on October 4 at night.
He then decided to stop on the side of the road to use the restroom.
Two men who were armed with a firearm came from nowhere, pointed a firearm at him and forced him to the back of the truck, then drove off with him.
They later dropped him at an unknown bush and drove away with the truck.
The second incident took place at Extension 11 on October 6.
The complainant alleged that he was driving his Toyota double cab bakkie around 18:30.
He called his son to open the gate for him, but while waiting, he saw his son running away.
An unknown man approached him, fired three shots and pulled him out of the car, and drove off with his car.
Two other incidents were reported on October 6, yet no suspects have been arrested for all the reported cases.
Colonel Mashego urges motorists not to stop anywhere during the night and those who are driving to their homes should monitor if there are no suspicious people roaming around their gates.
He further cautioned drivers to always make sure that the doors of their vehicles are properly locked when driving.
Anyone with information that may lead to the arrests of the suspects and recovery of the hijacked vehicles is requested to contact the Detective Branch Commander of Vosman, Colonel One Thobejane at 082 372 2195.
