Graduates set the bar high at Ethembeni Children’s Haven

Graduates from Ethembeni Children’s Haven get their certificates by Bishop Jeremiah Zulu who had given them a second chance.

Graduates from Ethembeni said they give their thanks to Bishop Jeremiah Zulu who had given them a second chance.

The graduates said they took the wrong path in their lives being involved in drugs and doing all the negative things one can think of and now they are sorry for their deeds. They apologised to their parents and other family members.

One of the graduates indicated that he was now going to be an interpreter in his mother’s church in Limpopo after being on drugs since 2015 smoking dagga, nyope and other drugs.

A stakeholder said he was helping Bishop Zulu to get some of the boy’s driver’s licences and will assist with lessons.

A motivational speaker assured the graduates that changing lives is very painful, but in the end, it pays off because one is assured of support and guidance from family and friends. He urged them to look at the present and future and forget about the past and the time to change was now.

Bishop Zulu related stories of how some of them being brought into the centre would run away and he never gave up on them.

“We had a lot of challenges when we started and Covid-19 delayed some of the programmes. We were working under very difficult conditions; we rely on the support and prayers we receive from the government, departments, groups, parents, business sector, churches and some individuals. We did a lot of consulting, teaching and we gave the programme to God. The programme has been extended for another three months because we see that there is a need,” said Bishop Zulu.

Bishop Zulu added to say that he was wishing the graduates all the best on their journey in another chapter of their lives. He also urged the parents to support their children, have patience with them and not judge them.

The graduates were presented with certificates. Ethembeni Children’s Haven has been in the news numerous times for the generosity and care shown to the community of eMalahleni in the past.
