Roads towards Ackerville is closed because municipality is giving it a bit of much needed TLC

Use alternative routes within the central business district if possible.

Emalahleni Local Municipality has a high backlog in infrastructure maintenance which is being evident in the decaying state of roads networks requiring urgent attention in the form of rehabilitation and reconstruction.

To this extent, the municipality is embarking on roads repair and maintenance program.

This closure will result in travelling time delays, interruptions, and access to properties and dwellings.

“The works to be currently undertaken is the resealing or intersections which is aimed at prolonging the road life expectancy and improve road safety within the municipality,” said municipal spokesperson Mr Lebo Mofokeng.

The works will include road lane closures, traffic accommodation, and stoppages.

The area to be affected shall be the intersection of MA Botha and Hectorway Streets towards Ackerville.

If all goes well, the work will be completed by November 30.

“It is against the above background that motorists, pedestrians, and road users are urged to be patient and accommodative of each other to avoid road rage and possible incidents by planning their travelling arrangements,” Mofokeng said.

Alternative routes within the Emalahleni central business district (CBD) can be used to access and traverse the CBD thereby avoiding traffic congestion.
