Elukhanyisweni Secondary School’s grand theft as teacher and clerk caught stealing

According to the principal, the food parcels were supposed to be taken to the house of the maintenance man

Both a teacher and clerk at Elukhanyisweni Secondary School were allegedly caught stealing groceries intended for the school’s feeding programme.

On Monday, January 24, concerned community members and parents saw the duo allegedly busy loading food inside the school’s vehicle after school hours.

During the confrontation by the angry parents, the two alleged that they were taking the food to a particular house as a donation for a funeral of a community member.

However, they could not say who and where the said funeral was as the parents did not know of any funeral in the surrounding community.

In a twist of events, the school’s principal, Mr Shiba, who was also present during the commotion, gave a different version of the story.

According to the principal, the food parcels were supposed to be taken to the house of the maintenance man at the school as a payment for his services.

Ezekiel Mthombo, who is the School’s governing body secretary, gave the same version of events after meeting with the principal.

Mr Shiba further denied that the two employees were stealing the food intended for learners in need at the school.

Community members, accompanied by Ward 16’s councilor, Sizwe Buthelezi have opened a case at Vosman Police Station against the school staff that is believed to be involved in this incident.

This case is being investigated at this time.

Members have further accused the school’s staff of grand theft of the feeding scheme parcels including donated school shoes that are allegedly sold to the public by some corrupt staff members.

It’s believed that packs of ‘Typek’ papers were sold by some staff members after being taken from struggling parents.

The angry parents say they want a grand investigation into the school’s financial management and Mr Shiba’s leadership at the school.
