Stakeholders met at Mabande Comprehensive High School in Phola to tackle some of the issues.
The organisations joined hands to show support to the learners at Mehlwana Secondary School as well as the teachers.
An outreach that was made by the organisations was aimed at empowering the students and reminding them that their education is important and bullying in schools should stop.

One of the learners at the school said that the learners face a lot of bullying.
“Most of the fights that start on social media, where other learners attack other learners, then want to fight them at school. The fights usually happen after school, where teachers are not around and that is why some of the learners don’t report cases of bullying,” she said. “Other reasons why children may not want to report to the teachers is that they think the teachers will judge them. I believe that it might help if we had complaints or suggestion box where students can write to,” the learner added.
Mr Nozipho Ndlovu, who is one of the educators and a member of the discipline committee at the schools, said that she has identified that some of the children that bully other children have problems at home.
“When we investigate a case of bullying we sometimes find that the child is sometimes not given attention or they are being abused. The children then come with the issues to school. Another big problem that many schools are facing is drugs. Students are sometimes high when they go to classes after a break. The discipline committee even asked the police to come to do random searches at the school,” said Ndlovu.
Chief Ndabezitha Sipho soMbali Mahlangu of the SoGutjhe Royal House accompanied by other members of the royal house went to the school on February 8.
