Passengers furious after taxi fare hike ‘without notice’

Commuters alleged that they were never informed of the taxi fare increase

Local taxi commuters are beyond furious after taxi fares increased without them being notified by the Local Taxi Association (LOTA).

Commuters alleged that they were never informed of the taxi fare increase.

Furthermore, commuters said they feel that taxi drivers should have put up visible notices in the taxi to indicate a hike in taxi fares but the notice was “probably stashed away somewhere”.

Local Taxi Association chairperson, Mr Solly Vilane said; “We have issued the papers in time and maybe the fault might be with the monitoring team as they are the ones that need to make sure that every taxi has notices of the increases.”
