eMalahleni teen uses pageant platform to uplift children

After earning the title of Mr Emalahleni High School 2nd runner-up, Sbusiso Malaza decided to start a charity foundation aimed at uplifting children.

While many teenagers focus only on pursuing their own success, Mr eMalahleni High School 2nd runner-up Sbusiso Malaza (17) has made it his mission to support young people and be a blessing in their lives.

Through his pageantry journey, which began in 2023, the Grade Nine learner at Coronation Secondary School said he has built confidence, developed his public speaking skills, and learned that a crown is about serving, not just shining.

“Holding a title means responsibility to me. Every title I earn is not mine alone; it belongs to every child who has never been seen. I use it to open doors for them,” he said.

A month after being crowned Mr eMalahleni High School second runner-up on May 30, Sbusiso established the SNM Charity Foundation to create an environment where children feel loved, valued and empowered.

“Through the organisation, we ensure that no child is held back by hunger, a lack of clothing or missing school supplies,” the model said “Every child deserves to feel loved, valued and equipped for their God-given purpose.”

Through the foundation, the young leader hopes to serve learners and families in eMalahleni with dignity, faith and love by providing food, clothing, school uniforms and stationery. He also plans to offer motivational talks and organise games and activities.

Sbusiso invites anyone interested in supporting his vision to partner with him by donating food, school uniforms or stationery.

Community members can also volunteer their time during school visits or sponsor a child for a school term.
