Wandile, the heart of Spring Valley Primary

Wandile Litheko, a semi-finalist for Mrs Universe Africa visited the township close to her heart – Spring Valley again, but this time to donate temperature thermometers.

Spring Valley Primary School is located in possibly the most impoverished informal settlements in eMalahleni with little to no proper infrastructure.

Wandile visited the school at the beginning of February to give a talk to girl-children.

After her visit, she asked the principal what the school needed.

The principal mentioned that they needed temperature thermometers for each class.

“With the Covid-19 situation seeming to be a little under control at the moment, we can not take that as an excuse to not continue to observe the necessary protocols, particularly in schools where our future generation is most vulnerable,” said Wandile.

She began to raise funds to buy the thermometers for the school and ran a charity raffle for three weeks, so she could be able to raise enough money to be able to buy them.

The process of doing the raffle began with looking for sponsors to provide prizes to the winners and advertising the raffle everywhere she went.

“I would like to thank the principal for opening the doors for me and most importantly everyone who participated in the raffle, because the donation would not be possible if it were not for them,” Wandile concluded.
