Youth shine in Siyaqobangamandla Talent Show

With the competition tight among the nine participating groups, the Sinamandla Dance Group secured first place.

The Siyaqobangamandla non-profit organisation in Phola hosted its highly anticipated Season 2 Talent Show, proudly sponsored by a local mine.

Held on June 27, the event gave young people from Phola and surrounding communities the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of family, friends, and community members.

According to Nokuthula Ellengent Mthombeni of the organisation, the aim of the event was to remind young people that talent, creativity, and positive self-expression can help steer them away from the dangers of drugs and alcohol.

Organisers further noted that the energy at this year’s show was unmatched, with every performance welcomed with open arms.

The stage featured a variety of acts, including musicians, dancers, Kofifi groups, and powerful Sarafina! performances that paid tribute to Youth Month and the legacy of youth empowerment.

Compared to last year’s inaugural season, organisers noted significant improvements in planning and execution, making Season 2 a massive success.

Nine groups competed for top honours. In the end, the Sinamandla Dance Group walked away with first place, winning the coveted trophy.

Vaya Kasi secured second place, while Future Stars claimed third.

Siyaqobangamandla expressed its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the event – from the judges and speakers to the participants and community members who came out in their numbers to support the initiative.

“Huge congratulations to all nine participating groups, especially to our winners who walked away with trophies. We extend our thanks to everyone who came to support the community at the talent show,” said Nokuthula.
