Six men arrested after allegedly attacking a man on a farm near Blinkpan

Supervisor and 16-year-old daughter safe after farm attack

A 53-year-old farm supervisor from Blinkpan was allegedly attacked yesterday.

The man and his 16-year-old daughter returned to the farmhouse when they noticed that the store room for the generator was open and the generator disconnected.

The man went around the store room and found two armed men, who reportedly attacked him.

He managed to signal to his daughter to seek help. Fortunately, his daughter made it safely to the house and pressed the panic button.

A security guard working on the farm was reportedly tied up by the suspects during the incident, but he was not harmed.

The owner of the farm arrived at the house approximately 10 minutes later to find that the man and his vehicle were gone.

The police and other role players were informed of the incident, and one of the residents who heard about it came across the victim’s vehicle while driven by the suspects.

He chased after the suspects until he reached a T-Junction on the R35 (Middelburg/Bethal road).

It is further reported that the suspects lost control of the vehicle,

Two suspects were then apprehended, and the victim was found at the back of the vehicle.

Moments later police noticed a white Nissan coming from Pullenshope. They stopped and surged the vehicle and discovered that the three occupants were also possibly involved.

The preliminary probe has also revealed the men are from Zimbabwe.

Police suspect that the security guard, who was tied up, is also allegedly involved in the attack.

They are expected to appear in the Middelburg Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, has acknowledged with much appreciation the excellent work done by stakeholders working with the police. “It is encouraging to have a good working relationship with our partners in the fight against crime. We are also glad that there was no loss of life. We trust that the suspects will get what they deserve so that others can learn that in this province, one cannot just come and commit a crime without consequences” said the General.
