Running and walking to raise funds

Runners and the walkers ran the same route while others ran the five kilometres and others ran the 10 kilometres.

They came from all the corners of the city of eMalahleni to run in the ninth eMalahleni City Race.

Winner of the ninth eMalahleni City Race: Shaun DaCamara, held Emrabulweni Park on Saturday, September 3. He is seen handed his trophy and prize money by Ms Cindy Mphindi (sponsor from Fawela Consulting – an Environmental and Management Service) and Trevor Dube of Sports Wrap, organiser of the race.

The race took place from Emrabulweni Park on Saturday, September 3. This was a fun race which leads as a beginner’s race because it was open for anyone to run or walk, and after that there was aerobics for the runners and walkers to stretch up.

Even though the race was not well supported, the people who attended had a good spring day enjoyment.

Shaun DaCamara was the winner of the race and was awarded a R200 prize.

“We are raising funds to buy sports equipment for amateur teams and athletes. Registration is R100 for every participant and they will get a medal in completion of the race run,” said Trevor Dube of Sports Wrap, organiser of the race.

Dube thanked all the participants and the sponsors of the race and hopefully next time it will be bigger.
